Fushimi-Inari Taisha, June 13

We climbed a mountain but had the foresight to purchase our water before embarking on our quest.  A good thing, since you can observe what happens as the elevation increased: a classic demonstration of the changing elasticity of demand as your desperate thirst sets in.

Alex walks the path toward enlightenment, all 233 meters (elevation) and 10,000 vermillion torii gates of it.  The black lettering on the side of each gate identifies the name of the company that has donated the money for that gate, asking for success in business.  We are not sure where the company puts this sort of fixed cost in their business plan.
