Fun with Pricing Schemas

Correctly match the following prices with the drinks we have purchased in Kyoto

Prices:  Y650, Y550, Y500, Y425. (Y95 = $1)

Beverage:  Iced Tea at “Seattle’s Best”, Sake at a sake bar on a Friday night in a hip area of Kyoto, Iced Coffee at a hip Kyoto coffee shop, a cold Asahi on a hot day near a tourist trap in Kyoto.

Coffee: Y650

Sake: Y550

Beer:  Y500

Tea: Y425

The tea and the coffee are entirely outside of what we are accustomed to.  We have noticed the phenomenon everywhere in relation to coffee houses (you can purchase an inexpensive canned iced-coffee in the vending machines.)  You pay a major premium for being at the coffee shop (actually, since it would be the same price to-go, for buying from a coffee shop).  Prices are somewhat lower at the chain stores than elsewhere, but still well outside of what we think they should be.  And few coffee houses offer internet or wi-fi either.  To further complicate the matter, food remains within what we’d expect at those coffee shops.  At the fancy coffee shop we could have purchased dinner for Y800.
